Two years have passed since Steve, Minecraft's developer, joined the DLC roster for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, his (and Alex's) amiibo finally will be available in stores on September 9.
Twitter was the place where Nintendo announced the release date of Minecraft's amiibo. The post was accompanied by a short video that gave fans a glimpse at the final designs of the Steve and Alex amiibo. These designs are faithful to the original blocky designs.
Although initially planned for a spring 2022 release of the amiibos, Alex and Steve were delayed until 2022 due to delays in logistics and production.
Now that Minecraft's amiibo collections have a release date, Nintendo is nearing the end to its Super Smash Bros. Ultimate amiibo line. Steve is now gone. The last characters that the company can convert into amiibo are Sephiroth and Pyra and Mythra. Kazuya and Sora. However, it is not clear if Sora will be given an amiibo.
We looked at Steve's appearance in Super Smash Bros as a DLC fighter. Ultimate gave his gameplay a 7 and called his faithful representation of Steve “impressive”, while pointing out that some mechanics can lead to frustration.
